The Loss Of A President November 22, 1963: The Loss of A President On November 22, 1963 at 12:30 P.M., the 35th President of the United States, John F. Kennedy, was shot and killed while riding through the streets of Dallas, Texas in an open limousine with wife Jackie Kennedy, and Governor John Connally. This single event in history has created more controversy than any other. Still today, more than 27 years after the shooting, there is still speculation as to who killed John F. Kennedy. Today, so many possible theories remain, it is hard to determine what actually happened. Today many people believe that it was Lee Harvey Oswald that killed JFK. They believe that he was just a lone nut acting out of his own feelings, and he was not influenced by anyone else. Many others believe there was a conspiracy set up by the CIA to kill President Kennedy, and others believe that it was Communist Russians. Kennedy became president, he had many great ambitions. He wanted to pull more troops out of Vietnam and lessen the war effort, cut back on organized crime, end the Cuban Missile Crisis, and limit the power of the CIA. With these ambitions it is no surprise he made so many new enemies, some even being in the US government itself. Many of these new enemies he had found were very powerful, and would stop at nothing to see his new ways come to an end, even if it meant killing him. Shortly after the incident, the government founded the Warren Commission, and a government investigation began on the assassination. The Warren Commission was a group made of outstanding citizens to ascertain, evaluate and report upon the facts relating to the assassination ... and the subsequent violent death of the man charged with the assassination Lee Harvey Oswald. The Commission was instructed by the government to examine evidence brought forth to them by the FBI (Federal Bureau of Investigation), or and any other organization or person. With the examination of the evidence, the Commission was then to make a decision on exactly what occurred that day. In under a week the Commission was able to come to the conclusion that Lee Harvey Oswold was the lone assassin of the president. His actions were based on his personal instincts, and he was not working in anyway for any person or organization, whether it being a government agency or personnel. It was determined by the Commission that Oswold fired three shots at President Kennedy from the 6th floor of the Texas School Book Depository. The three shots were fired in a time period of 5.6 seconds, using a bolt-action 6.5 Italian Carbine rifle. The first shot Oswald fired was the magic bullet. The bullet was fired from Oswalds gun downward at a 17 degree angle, and hit Kennedy about halfway down his back. The bullet then moved upward where it exits through Kennedys throat, and then turns right and hits Connally behind his right armpit. It then moves downward, breaking and fragmenting part of his fifth rib, and then exits his chest from the right side. Then the bullet enters Connallys wrist and severs the Ulna nerve, exits his wrist and then gets lodged in Connallys thigh. All together the magic bullet made 7 wounds on President Kennedy and Governor Connally. The second shot fired missed Kennedy completely and hit an unsuspecting bystander, badly wounding him in the cheek. The third shot taken hit Kennedy in the back of the head, fatally wounding him. Many people believe this theory to be true, but still others are skeptical, and for good reason. On November 23, the paraffin test performed on Oswald came out negative for his right cheek but positive for his hands. Compost Column essays The purpose of this project was to make a comparison of two different columns using different ingredients. I made a hypothesis that two columns would decompose at a slow rate depending on the environment, heat, water, air etc. And at the end I would end up with soil in both the columns. I used several ingredients in the making of my column; I used leaves, grass clippings (fresh), and pawn water. To make the column I followed the attached instructions. Equipment used: Scratch awl, triple beam balance, P.H. tester, stirring stick, scissors and knives. For results refer to calendar attached. Differences in temperature, light and moisture had a major effect on the column. If I had too much water it would kill the microbes, If I had too little it would kill the microbes, so it was important to keep it as wet as a rung out sponge. If the temp. Was too high it would dry out and I would have to add more pond water to the column to keep it stable. If it had had any light it probably would have dried out faster but also would have given it heat to help to microbes grow. Bad odors also occurred from rotting grass, which produced an ammonia smell. During decomposition I predict the grass, and leaves will form into soil by decaying, and maybe there might be some fruit flies. The outcome was somewhat successful, there was some decomposition of the columns and I ended up with a quarter soil and 3 quarters still decaying material. It was not exactly as I predicted but it did show some relation to my hypotheses, there was some decomposition and heat and water did make a difference. I made several mistakes during this project, that may have resulted to the column not fully decomposing. I did not put the same number of air holes in both the columns to increase the air flow, did not put the exact same amount of ingredients, and the grass dried out before I could get all of the ingredients in the column. ...

Robinson Jeffers   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  On January 10th, 1887, John Robinson Jeffers, most well known as simply Robinson Jeffers, was born outside of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. His parents were somewhat of an odd fit. His father, Dr. William Hamilton Jeffers, was an extremely intelligent yet â€Å"reserved, reclusive person† who married a happy upbeat woman who was 23 years younger than himself (Coffin). Despite their age and personality differences, Dr. Jeffers and Annie Robinson Tuttle had a secure marriage. Dr. Jeffers’s widespread education resulted in a vast knowledge of Latin, Greek, Hebrew, Arabic, and the Old Testament. Dr. Jeffers was eager to pass on his knowledge to Robinson. So, when Robinson was only five years old, Dr. Jeffers began to teach him Greek (Academy of American Poets). Also starting at a young age, Robinson traveled throughout Europe. From age eleven to fifteen, Robinson attended several different European boarding schools: in Zurich, Leipzig, Geneva, Vevey, and Lausanne (Coffin). Though Dr. Jeffers was responsible for Robinson’s frequent transfers, his reasoning is unknown. At each school, Jeffers was seen by his peers as reclusive and pensive—much like his father. In 1903, when Jeffers was 16, he relocated yet another time with his family to Pasadena, California where he enrolled at Occidental College as a junior. Here, Jeffers succeeded immediately and immensely in courses such as biblical literature, Greek, and astronomy. Jeffer’s natural ambition to learn and his knowledge of numerous languages impressed everyone around him. She does not care at all about anyone but herself. I feel that she may even be narcissistic. It is ironic because she would be expected to look out for her family. The Cambridge Dictionary defines narcissism as too much interest in and admiration for your own physical appearance and/or your own abilities It is ironic because she would be expected to look out for her family, however in reality she only really looks out for herself. She shows how self centered she really is many times throughout the story. The grandmother is certainly guilty of both. The grandmother was like a child she would do anything she possi bly could to get what she wanted. She showed no regard for the people who love her. Although it was unintentional it is hard not to blame everything that went wrong in the story on the grandmother. She was the cause of all of the tension in the car; she was also the one who wanted to go up the side roads. Of not for the grandmother the cat would not have been in the car so they probably would not have crashed. Once they confronted the Misfit she still did nothing to help save her family. She showed them no regard and just looked out for herself. The grandmother is a very immature woman. She acts as if she has not properly developed socially or morally. She shows no concern for anyone else?s opinion or authority. She makes her decisions based solely on what she would like to do. She will do anything it takes to make sure that everything goes her way. For example she completely fabricated a story about her house in order to get them to drive up the side roads.
